Magdalena BARRERA ORO

God Mother of the International Harp Festival of Occitania.

Magdalena BARRERA ORO is the solo harpist of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and the National Orchestra of Catalonia since 1987 and the teacher of harp at ESMUC in Barcelona.

Magdalena studied at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory in her hometown under the tutelage of Maria Esther MORO, during which time she will obtain the title of music teacher specialized in harp. Thanks to a scholarship from the "Teatro Colón" Foundation, she obtained a master’s degree at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam in the class of Edward WITSENBURG and deepened the orchestral repertoire with Vera BADINGS.

Magdalena has given recitals as soloist and with chamber music groups in the Netherlands, France, Argentina and Spain; she also played as a soloist with the Chamber Orchestra of the Lliure Theatre, the Euskadi Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Spain and the Ottawa National Arts Center Orchestra (Canada), among others.

Magdalena has also recorded the concerts for harp and orchestra by Alberto GINASTERA and Xavier MONTSALVATGE.

From this last composer she also recorded the Fantaisie for harp and guitar and the Four Variations on an anonymous theme for harp alone.

Magdalena BARRERA ORO is a faithful of the International Harp Festival of Occitanie organized by the Association CLAVE de SOL.
